A dark blue eye looks out from a field of raised silver scrollwork. The Blue Eyeball Guardian Bell is made of .925 sterling silver, stands 36 mm tall with its bail and weighs 14 grams. Inside hangs a brass clapper, so the bell rings when it's shaken. It's made to hang low on a motorcycle as a gremlin bell. The same bail takes a cord when you'd rather wear it.

Who This Is Actually For

If you ride and want a bell on the bike — The bail has a 4 mm opening, wide enough for a zip tie or a narrow leather strap around a frame tube. The bell measures 17 mm in diameter, so it fits low spots on the frame without crowding the hardware.

If you're buying it for a rider — The designer's raised lettering around the back of the rim reads "good vibrations", so the message is part of the bell itself. It ships in our black drawstring pouch, ready to hand over.

If you collect eyeball jewelry — The eye is an 8 mm acrylic dome with a white surround, a dark blue iris and a black pupil. A raised silver rim holds it in place. On a cord, the bell turns into a small pendant with one spot of blue.

What It's Like to Use (The Honest Take)

Most of the surface is scrollwork, and the oxidizing (darkening on purpose) sits deep in the background. The dark layer makes every curl and small round bead stand out against the polished high points. Some of the shapes curl like leaves and some taper like flames, so the pattern reads as tribal-inspired from a distance.

The rim carries two different bands. Under the eye, two strands braid around the front. Around the back, raised blackletter letters spell "good vibrations", the designer's lettering. So the bell looks different from every side it turns to.

The bail is a ribbed loop that passes through a small ring on top of the bell. Because of that link, the bell swings freely and hangs straight under a strap or a cord. Shaken in your hand, the brass clapper rings against the silver walls at a moderate volume.

Compared with the 18.7-gram Skull Guardian Bell, this one is lighter and smaller, at 14 grams and 36 mm with the bail. On a bike it takes up less room, and it hangs lighter on a cord.

Heads up: The eye is acrylic, which scuffs more easily than glass. Mount the bell where the eye can't knock against metal parts, and use the polishing cloth on the silver only.

Questions You're Probably Asking

Q: How loud is the ring from the brass clapper?

It rings at a moderate volume when it's shaken. A brass clapper hangs inside and strikes the .925 sterling silver walls to make the sound. On a motorcycle, the bell rings as the bike moves, and in biker folklore that ringing is what a guardian bell is for. The bell is 36 mm tall with its bail.

Q: What will fit through the 4 mm bail?

Anything thinner than 4 mm fits through the bail opening. A zip tie or a narrow leather strap works for mounting the bell on a motorcycle frame tube. For wearing it, a leather cord or a chain thinner than 4 mm passes through, as long as its clasp fits too. The bell ships without a chain, cord or strap.

Q: Is the blue eye glass or a gemstone?

The eye is acrylic, not glass or a gemstone. It measures 8 mm across, with a dark blue iris, a white surround and a black pupil. A raised rim of .925 sterling silver holds it on the front of the bell. To clean it, wipe the eye with a soft dry cloth.

Q: Why do riders give guardian bells as gifts?

Biker folklore says a guardian bell carries more luck when someone else gives it to you. The legend holds that road gremlins, tiny spirits blamed for breakdowns, get caught in the bell and driven off by its ringing. On this bell, the "good vibrations" lettering around the rim suits that tradition.
