Os motociclistas de hoje são, via de regra, pessoas cumpridoras da lei que cometem apenas um crime - preferem andar sem capacete. Mas esse não foi sempre o caso. Uma jaqueta de motociclista moderna evoluiu a partir dos equipamentos dos pilotos militares americanos. A Força Aérea dos EUA participou ativamente na Guerra da Coréia.
